Description

Black Bottom Project CDC, Inc. (BBPCDC) represents a new movement to raise the Spirit of Detroit, by conscious, innovative Black people. The original Black Bottom neighborhood in Detroit, Michigan, was a professional community comprised of many industries that was born from conscious, innovative Black people. Named for its rich black topsoil, which nurtured the bodies and minds of, coincidentally Black (African American) settlers in its geographic span, it was a community that spanned from Brush Street to the west, and the Grand Trunk railroad tracks to the east, and bisected by Gratiot Avenue, stretching south to the Detroit River.
