He meets various people and forms different bonds, but any time a situation or a person calls for him to reveal his true self, the protagonist flees. And he turns into a man on the run. His track runs through numerous places – starting with females and the casual affairs where the protagonist delves into pleasure, sets records, but is quick to escape should a female desire to come closer and get to know him. He doesn’t belong among males either. In their ranks, behind the ostensible hierarchy, the law of the jungle rules, and you’re either a predator or a prey (here, according to the spirit animal). The protagonist being afraid of finding out what he is, can’t place himself. All he has left is to run and hide. His fear of intimacy destroys his relationship with his wife. She never reaches his inner self. He is consumed by fear. At one point he’s left with nothing – he’s lost touch with reality, with people, with his family, he’s ill and lonely, chased and pressed by his fears. At that very moment, he decides to search for his own core – his inner self. Although his spirit animal turns out to be nothing special, the protagonist now knows more about himself. He will flee no more.
