Wali & Zuri

Wali, 13, attempts to make a new group of friends after being invited to play basketball. When his pesky younger sister Zuri, 10, forcibly tags along, he sacrifices their relationship to fit in and ultimately learns what is most important.


Undefeated Hip-Hop Dance

Hip-Hop dance has come a long way merging from the wound of its New York mother. A beautiful body is seen in today's time, more importantly, time has changed and the new generation of hip-hop dancer have something to prove so to speak. The fast-paced cultural hip-hop dance wave has taken its place in the underground world and on the ground period. In the new globalization it is not just a dance war it is a statement of sanity, a cry for protection and a merciful scream for fame. Four African-American teenage males set out to prove that there is a shift in our cultural hip-hop dance; and from poverty they set out to make their mark in the world. Possessing a quiet voice, the dedicated crew feels that they have what it takes to wake the nation.

Broken Bird

Broken Bird follows Birdie, a biracial girl raised by her Jewish mom in a New Jersey suburb, as she spends a rare day with her father while preparing for her Bat Mitzvah. She overcomes her doubts, and decides to risk inviting him back into her life. Birdie confronts what independence means as she steps into adulthood on her own terms.

Broken Bird celebrates the various worlds and lives we incorporate into our own unique identities.


Puppy Love

Beetle, the typical around the way kid, has a huge crush on his favorite R&B singer "Crystal". While listening to the radio, the DJ announces a contest that will get him up, close and personal with the singer but the only way to win the tickets is to call in. The problem is, his phone does not work. Beetle has to figure out a way to get to the love of his life in this coming of age drama about what is was like when you first experienced love.


Doze of Reality

In our short film, Doze of Reality, Wide Angle’s high school video team drew inspiration from music videos, movies, and television series like “Dear, White People” to gain the attention of the viewer using a Menippean-style of satire which targets mindsets or world views. This project exercised our skills in research, ideation, script-writing, project management, leadership, and video production.


A Sisterhood of Signatures

After a middle school tween discovers a letter from her great grandmother (from WWII era), she challenges her mischievous friends to begin a cursive, letter-writing club.


Bloom

In BLOOM, an awkward inner city teen enters a vicious rap battle with ulterior motives. Darnel, a backpack strapped, scrawny teen who wears his heart on his sleeves, is the last person you'd expect to challenge notorious gangster rapper Yung Ammo. Nevertheless, he throws caution to the wind, putting both his reputation and physical well-being on the line. The results are beyond what anyone expected.
