Film(s) To Be Screened

In Plain Air

In Plain Air celebrates the long career of artist Pauline Bellamy. We accompany her to a number of stunning Otago locations as she completes paintings amidst the elements. While she creates, we find out what makes her tick, where she has been, and where she is going.

The Expats International Ingrams

The Expats International Ingrams sheds light on the dynamic, exciting, and unpredictable life of EXPAT families; as well as educates and introduces new places and experiences to families. The Ingrams will be an inside source of what it's like to live black and abroad; discovering and adapting to new cultures. Juanita, who is an American licensed attorney, author, actress, and Founder & CEO of Purpose Productions, Inc. (a 501(c)3 minority women-owned production company), came up with the show’s concept when she realized that her story could help not only other black families abroad but also trailing spouses. This unscripted series ushers in a new subcategory of "smart-reality" TV utilizing the "edutainment" approach originally pioneered by the Black Panthers. Filmed in four countries in 2019 and 2020 (though the pandemic), the directors used virtual methods to bring this project showcases positive black images and stereotype breaking content to audiences.

Lion on the Mat

This short documentary follows Mai Nguyen, a 29 year-old Vietnamese-American martial artist, as she trains for an upcoming Jiu Jitsu match. We witness her training process, and learn how she mentally, as well as physically, prepares. We also see her balance the demands of regular life — job, being a single mother — with training. We meet her four-year-old son Benji, and understand more of the stakes in her decision to keep fighting. Gradually, we learn more about her childhood in Vietnam, her experience immigrating and assimilating to the US, and her return to martial arts as a way to recover from the trauma of her abusive childhood and ex-husband.

Get Lost in Colombia

Get Lost is an innovative web/ TV show with a unique blend of lifestyle, travel and news. With dynamic veteran host Sophie Lui we take the viewer on a journey back to destinations that were once off limits. The viewer joins Sophie as she rediscovers places once plagued by war, dictatorship and natural disasters.
