The Binoculars/Une Paire de Jumelles

The idea for The Binoculars came from the prominence of observation and detachment in our everyday lives. We see everything from a safe distance - but in close up. We scan articles and swipe through notifications without digging deeper - or taking a stand about anything.

Une Paire de Jumelles is Cadence's journey from privileged detachment to engagement, when she encounters the world of the refugees, without her binoculars. The vivid colours and a slightly more lively atmosphere of Paris is contrasted with a dull, blue look of the countryside where the refugees reside.

One Day At The Sea

After years of absence, Agatha returns to the sea resort of her childhood, in Normandy, with her six years old son, Honoré. On edge, loaded with memories, she paces along the boardwalks of Deauville, while her son stays alone in the car. To his few questions, she gives no answers. On the wide beach of Trouville, in front of the old Hôtel des Roches Noires, she leaves him one more time. The film is freely inspired from Marguerite Duras’s play, Agatha.
