Stanisław Inglot was born in Poland, yet his town now lies within the borders of Ukraine. He has only visited Poland three times, but will uphold his national identity until he dies. This hasn’t come from a statement of fact on his birth certificate, but through the customs and traditions that have been kept alive by those forced from their home who keep Poland in their hearts. While this sentiment is still strong for Stanisław, it is apparent that as those who have shared his experience have passed away, he faces a cultural loss. He is still active in the Polish community in High Wycombe, which includes Poles who have emigrated in the last twenty years, or are second generation Polish born in the UK. Since the passing of his wife four years ago, Stanisław has reconciled that his time left on this earth, but for now he is still walking.
This documentary was produced as an undergraduate film of the Film and Broadcasting Bachelor of Arts Degree in TU Dublin (formerly DIT), and was the work of five of the students over a period of three months. We are very honoured to be able to share the Stanisław’s story with audiences great and small.

A youth of our times is summoned by an evaluatory system far above his reach to make testimony of his right to speak, opinionate, and in other words, think of his own free will. The presiding court appears ambivalent to the words of the individual stemming from a perceived 'identity'. Thus his 'identity' precludes his definitive nature, and the words of an individual are deemed "inconsequential". The verdict is self-evident...
