Full Synopsis

Raised in the segregated South by a working-class family, Marny is a young girl who can see and communicate with spirits of the afterlife. While her brother is off fighting in World War 2, the relationship with her mother becomes strained as she encounters these spirits more and more. The growing disconnection between them along with trying to understand her special abilities leaves Marny with a lot of unsettled and hurt feelings. 

After she's visited by a familiar spirit, Marny is tasked with the challenge of relaying the dark message to her mother that may change the family forever.
