RESISTERHOOD

Resisterhood is a film about the power of women, hope and resistance in modern American politics. Beginning at the 2017 Women’s March in Washington, DC, the film follows six diverse Americans as they fight for social justice on the streets and in the halls of power. Over the course of two years, we watch as they work to protect our rights and inspire others to join this peaceful and historic movement. Through their eyes, we experience the reality of Trump’s America. And through their actions, we witness the strength and courage of ordinary Americans during this extraordinary time.Resisterhood was produced, directed, filmed and edited by women.

Director Statement

As the daughter of an Air Force officer, I was raised on American exceptionalism. When my father left to fight in the Vietnam War, my 7-year-old self understood that the American ideal was worth fighting and dying for. To me, America was a place where everyone was created equal and deserved an equal chance. Sadly, I realized that the rest of my family along with a surprising number of Americans believed that only those who looked like them deserved an equal chance. After the 2016 election, I knew I needed to use my skill as a filmmaker to tell the stories of those fighting for the country I believed in. I have filmed dozens of peaceful protests and hundreds of arrests. I have been arrested twice myself. RESISTERHOOD embodies the idea that when we join together as a community to support and uplift each other, we are all better off. RESISTERHOOD is what democracy looks like.
