A Basement Film" is about Matilda, an English major at U of M Ann Arbor, who is struggling to find her way through mental illness and other personal issues such as bad self-esteem and hooking up with the wrong dudes. Matilda decides to go home for the weekend and with all of her buddies, they smoke, do mushrooms, and try to handle the several catastrophes and stresses that occur with coming of age and realizing that you're a hot mess.
Director Biography:
Katelin Maylum has been directing, writing, acting and producing films for over a decade. She began her career when she was 12 years old as an actress and model and began turning her scripts into films when she was a freshman at Wayne State University studying Theater with a specialization in Performance.
Katelin was nominated for two Detroit Filmmaker Awards in 2019 for Best Feature Film and Screenplay for her film "Stay" and has won Best Animal Film, Best Mockumentary and received several other nominations throughout the years with the Detroit 48 Hour Film Project.
