The Plot

'Code' takes place in bustling St. Gerard Memorial Medical Center, where Dr. Lena Flores, (Cherubim Abueme), is a burned out senior medical resident who is about to take her turn as '3rd Call', the house senior overnight. With the help of the inexperienced Dr. Jimmy Sterling, (Reid Honeywell) and the mysterious Dr. Theo Vaccaro, (Christopher Cendana), Lena must confront disease and death and deal with her own burnout while facing an enemy that suddenly seems more than just her imagination...We made this film to highlight physician burnout, which is a growing crisis made more urgent by the recent pandemic. A recent study found the suicide rate for physicians to be twice that of the general population, higher than even that of military veterans. In 'Code', we team with creative and medical professionals to tell this tale of burnout through the eyes of society's youngest physicians in the modern training environment, and we are confident it will resonate with you whether or not you're in the medical field.
