Established   in   1995   the   festival   is   now   in   it's   16th   Edition.   Kinofilm   has   a unique   reputation   for   showcasing   the   best   short   films   from   around   the   world,   whilst   being renowned   for   seeking   out   diverse,   challenging   and   groundbreaking   new   films.   We   welcome filmmakers   that   are   pushing   the   boundaries   of   the   short   film   art   form.   The   festival   maintains   a high   standard   with   many   European and  International   award-winning   shorts   featured   in   the Festival.   It   includes   special   programmes   in   North   West   Shorts   (UK),   British   New   Wave,   Euro Cine,   International   Panorama,   Kino   Exposed   (student   and   youth   shorts),   low/no   budget   shorts, Animation   and   various   themed   programmes such as Horror, Crime, Sci-Fi, Comedy and Romantic Tales,.   The Festival gives   new   and   emerging   filmmakers   the opportunity   to   have   their   work   screened   alongside   that   of   critically   acclaimed,   established   short filmmakers.

Though we are working towards our 17th edition we are now presenting Part One of our 16th Edition, postponed in 2020 due to the Coronavirus Pandemic. This online edition will take place 10th - 16th May 2021. The Festival is competitive with awards in 15 categories including Best International Short Film, Best Actor, and Best Newcomer etc.

THE BEST OF O!PLA - FOCUS ON POLAND 2020 is a unique program presenting the winners of the 8th O!PLA Animation Festival (2020). As always the only Jury at O!PLA was the audience; partly in traditional voting and partly in online voting (during the COVID-19 quarantine). THE BEST OF O!PLA 2020 is an amazing mix of techniques, styles, and emotions showing what in modern Polish animation (O!PLA means „Oh! Polish Animation”, but also: “Oh! People Love Animation”) is the best. Starting off 2013 O!PLA consequently grows in strength, but one thing remains the same - independence and passion, which stand behind the O!PLA.

The Rain’ is a simple animated film on the collective consciousness. It talks about how no accountability for our actions pushes us to thoughtlessly follow the crowd, which may lead to a tragedy. The film also depicts a struggle of an individual with collective hypnosis and its consequences for both the individual and the crowd.

THE LAST CINEMA

The personal story about the last educational cinema in Poland, run by the director’s grandfather. This information was intentionally not checked. Director decided to follow his grandma’s word, who is the narrator of the movie. The film was created with the author’s method combining digital and analogue techniques. The image is the effect of layers. It was made using a digital and analog camera as well as typical drawing, painting and graphic tools. During the filming, around 8,200 hand-made frames were created.

THERE WAS A FILE ISSUE WHICH WE HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO RESOLVE REMOTELY WHICH WE HAVE BEEN WORKING HARD TO DO SO BUT WE HAVE BEEN UNABLE TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE  SO WE HAVE HAD TO RELOAD THE WHOLE FILE BACK TO BINGEWAVE WHICH IS CURRENT PROCESSING. WE ESTIMATE THAT THIS MAY TAKE BETWEEN ANOTHER 1 OR 2 HOURS MORE FOR PROCESSING .AS A TEMPORARY MEASURE WE ARE GOING TO RE-SCREEN THE SCI-FI AND FANTASY PROGRAMME NOW SO AT LEAST WE HAVE SOMETHING BEING BROADCAST.  At last the moment that everyone has been waiting for, our 16th Edition 2021 Festival Awards for our premiere International on-line Festival. See our first ever online Festival Awards Ceremony with details of all nominees, Special Mentions and Winners in 19 Awards.  We'll even have thank you's from some of the filmmakers wherever they are in the world.

Following this 60 min awards and closing ceremony you can join us for a selection of the award winning films at 8.45 pm (BST).

Our British Film Awards for 2021 will announced at our October Live British New Wave edition - 19th - 24th October.

Congratulations to all our nominees and winners, and many thanks to all the filmmakers who submitted their films this year. All the films were really great with such a diverse selection of over 230 films in our online edition, with another 150 to follow in October.

Don't forget, you can watch most of the films in this years online edition here on Bingewave until the end of the month (30th), so come back and check out the films you may have missed, including of course all the award winners, runner-ups and nominees..
